Social Media is obviously here to stay with anybody and everybody somehow connected to one form of a social media app or another, be it from Facebook, Instagram or newer apps such as Meerkat and Periscope. Social Media has truly become a staple of any mobile/web user. So what is the future of Social Media for marketeers?

Analytical applications/tools

As the number of people who use social media increase dramatically on a global scale, the number of potential customers for brands also increase. This is awesome news for marketeers as they now have a huge audience to work with and a high chance of converting social media users into potential customers. So how do marketeers take advantage of this new opportunity? In order to collect data which will enable marketeers to collect insights and analytics on what needs improvement, marketeers need to invest time in analytical applications which help them to gain the right information to improve social media profiles and enable them to successfully communicate with their customers.


With pictures being the most widely used multimedia content, website content became easier to digest and read through. What marketeers need to be aware of the future is the use of new video platforms such as Periscope which allow real-time branding and the ability to speak content which is live liked and interactive with its followers.

Filled out profile that show personality

As more and more marketeers look at at peoples social media profiles to target specific adverts and content, it can be frustrating when profiles are incomplete and lack any personality such as likes and dislikes. But having filled out social media profiles is not only for brands to market content it is also useful for users. With the rise of online job hunting applications such as LinkedIn and rise to, it is essential to show who you really are on your profile so you can be matched with jobs that relate to your skills. In essence job site applications follow similar patterns to online dating sites the more you fill out your profile the better matches you receive.

These are just a few aspects to consider in terms of Social and its future for marketeers. As technology continues to advance, new changes will continue to also advance in ways marketeers communicate their brand to their audience.
